Food Series: LOV Restaurant

We found the perfect place for you to hang out with friends, enjoy a cocktail and satisfy your appetite. LOV Restaurant is a cute little vegan and vegetarian restaurant located on 464 McGill Street. They prepare their homemade dishes with fresh and plant based ingredients that are cultivated by local suppliers. Their clean yet rustic aesthetics will captivate you and the food will keep you coming back for more! To start the night off, we both had a glass of sangria. An extremely refreshing taste of red wine mixed with orange, Grand Marnier, sivo rye and kombucha. It was a great mix of sweet and savory! Very light and smooth to drink on a hot summer night. Luckily, they have a pitcher for those of you who want more than one glass! 

Casandra had the Banh Mi Burger and the Kimchi Fries. Both of which were absolutely divine and delicious. The Kimchi fries offered a bit of heat and sweetness, which was cooled down by the Miso sauce poured on top. So, so scrumptious! The Kimchi over the fries also added a layer of umami, which keeps you coming back for another bite. The Banh Mi burger was served with tofu, which was wonderfully fried and surprisingly so light. The usual meat patty in a burger wasn't missed because of how the tofu was prepared. The coleslaw offered a delicious crunch and cooled down the spicy siracha mayo. The carrots gave a sweetness and another level of crunch to the burger. It's a definite must-try if you're a burger fan!

Kristin had the Gnocchi di Casa which was made out of buckwheat sweet potato. Such a different and interesting take on a popular Italian dish. Very tasty yet felt very homey just by the presentation. Another lovely component was the arugula which combined so perfectly with the basil pesto. It created a delicate yet compelling taste. A homemade dish that is simple but has so many dynamic aspects. Plus, the sprinkle of lemon and Parmesan cheese added a touch more of a savory flavor. Oh, and not to mention the smell of this dish is so enticing! Try it out, you will not regret it! 

As for dessert, Casandra and Kristin both had the brownie that was topped with raspberries and was drizzled with a raspberry sauce. A rich, creamy and decadent dessert! Plus, the few bits of peanuts in the brownie gave it a little crunch. Overall, it melded perfectly with the red wine sangria! 

As for our first time here, we really fell in love with LOV! It was such a cozy place but it was perfect for us just to sit down and talk. From the atmosphere, to the service and finally to the food; you really can't be more pleased! Even if you are not a vegan or a vegetarian, you will enjoy the flavors of the dishes and you will probably learn more to appreciate clean eating just like we have! You need to check this eatery out! It will definitely be your new favorite place to eat!
