I'm a makeup wearer and a massive fan of makeup in general. When I'm in school, I prefer a routine that's quick and simple but still somewhat elevated. I want to look awake and bright and put together.
I like to start off with a primer in order to set the skin. I've been using Too Faced's Primed and Peachy Primer lately. It's mattifying which is nice and keeps shine at bay during the day. Plus, it's cooling so it feels nice on the skin and keeps my redness down.
My next step is to go in with a color corrector under the eyes. I use Becca's Backlight Targeted Color Corrector Concealer in Peach. I like to use my (clean) finger and lightly tap it under the eyes, as the lightweight concealer is very pigmented. It's almost orange on the skin, so I use it sparingly. However, I don't blend it out just yet. I leave it over top my dark circles to prep for my concealer.
I then like to go over top with NYX's Full Coverage Concealer in Light. I like to use a pointed flat foundation brush to place this over the peach concealer. I'll then go in with a buffing brush to blend it out. The combination of the peach concealer and the NYX concealer minimizes my dark undereyes and keeps me fresh faced. The buffing brush also minimizes creasing under the eyes.
I'll finally set my undereyes with a yellow powder from Kat Von D's Shade and Light Contour Kit in the colour Lyric. It sets the under eyes well and keeps the concealer in place all day. It also keeps the shine down under my eyes since the Becca concealer is quite hydrating.
The brows are up next! I like to brush them out and fill them in lightly with NYX's Micro Brown Pencil in Espresso. It's an amazing dupe for Anastasia Beverly Hills BrowWiz and is quick and easy to use before school.
I like to then contour the hollows of my cheeks and my forehead with Fenty Beauty's Matchstick Skinstick in Truffle. That gets blended and layered overtop with a combination of Subconcious to blend out the contour and Shadowplay to bronze up the skin from Kat Von D's Shade and Light Contour Kit.
Next up are the lashes! For my more natural days I like to use L'Oreal's Telescopic Mascara in Carbon Black. It separates the lashes well and lengthens my teeny tiny lashes but still looks natural.
And finally, I'll use my finger to blend Benefit's Watts Up! Highlighter onto the high points of my face. I'll go over my cheekbones, on the bridge and tip of my nose, on my
Cupid's bow (top of the upper lip) and even on the inner corners of my eyes and the browbone. It adds a beautiful glow to the skin but still looks very natural and healthy.
When it comes to getting ready in the morning, I have the hardest time to get out of bed. So I probably only have 5 minutes to do my makeup and get dressed before I have to head out the door and run onto the bus! There's not much to my makeup routine but it is very straightforward and manageable for a daily basis.
1) Spot Conceal
Forget about foundation, there's no time for that when it's 6am! Let your skin breath and cover up your acne scars and blemishes with some concealer instead. My favorite and one that I use everyday is Maybelline Better Skin in the shade Light/Medium. It's so light weight on the skin and looks natural! This is also a great concealer to cover up any dark circles because it's a concealer and corrector in one! Plus, it doesn't crease under the lines and it blends into the skin seamlessly. Even when I'm in a rush, I always choose to blend my makeup in with a beauty sponge. To keep things budget friendly, I usually buy the Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge at my local pharmacy.
2) Blush it up
I love to add a little bit of blush onto the apples of my cheeks just to bring a little more life and dimension into my face. This powder blush is an essential in my routine! It's the Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Blush in Exposed. It is a subtle pink tone that looks very natural and gives a flush of color to the skin. I love to add a bit on my eyelids too and the perimeters of my face just to give an overall balance of color to the face. I apply this with the Real Techniques Blush Brush.
3) Curl the lashes & put mascara
If I've managed to put my contacts on, then I will definitely need mascara to make me look awake. First, I curl my lashes with the Sephora Eyelash Curler to make my small eyes look a bit bigger. Then, I coat my lashes with the L'Oreal Voluminous Original Mascara in Blackest Black. I love this mascara because there is no fall out and it lengthens my lashes. Also, it's an affordable price and it doesn't irritate my sensitive eyes.
Ahh at last, my favorite part! It's time to highlight! I recently bought this Maybelline Master Chrome Metallic Highlighter in Molten Gold and have fallen in love with it! If you love gold highlighters, then you need to pick this up! It is so pigmented and bright -almost blinding! A little bit goes a long way with this product. I usually highlight the tops of my cheekbones, the top of my brow bone and the inner corner of my eyes to make my eyes look more awake. It is another product that you can purchase at the drugstore which is always a plus! And, it lasts all day! What more can you want?
That's it! We hope you enjoyed getting ready with us!
