Food Series: Parma Cafe

November 7, 2017

Hello reader!

We've been on the hunt and looking for yummy places for students like us to be able to catch a quick but fulfilling bite around campus. So in the following posts in our Food Series, we're giving you the rundown on what's around Downtown, Montreal that's affordable, delicious and Instagram worthy. We can't wait to share with you all of the places that we've been going to. Keep reading to find out where the first stop is!

Parma Cafe is the perfect place to go to for a quick and delicious lunch! It's located on 1202 Bishop Street Downtown, Montreal - it's a 5 minute walk from the Concordia University Library building! This lovely cafe serves sandwiches, salads, pizza, desserts, and has a large selection of coffee and drinks (and alcohol, if that's your remedy lol) . They assure on serving real, authentic Italian food and they even have a takeout grocery market that specializes in imported Italian goods. Click here to take a look at their savory menu!

Casandra had the Chicken Cutlet Sandwich with a side of House Salad. The sandwich felt authentically Italian. Breaded chicken topped with lettuce, spicy marinated eggplants and their house mayonnaise (cheese was optional). From the first bite, you're taken back to spending your childhood days with your nonnis (if you're Italian, obviously). Delicious and fresh, the simple sandwich was comforting and filling. The eggplants added the right amount of vinegar and spice to the sandwich which rounded out the whole meal. Casandra accompanied her sandwich with their house salad, which again felt like home. Just the right amount of vinegar and not too much olive oil. Perfect in every way!

Casandra accompanied her authentically Italian meal with an authentic Italian soft drink - the deliciously bitter Brio. Once you order your meal and pay, you're given a number and are free to take a seat wherever you'd like. They'll bring you your meal when it's ready.

Kristin had the Sausage Panini which was filled with homemade coleslaw, cheese and spicy mayo. If you could tell from the picture, Kristin couldn't wait to bite into the sandwich! It was extremely tasty! And on the side, she had the Caprese Salad. A dish that comprised of tomatoes, bocconcini and topped with pieces of basil. The drizzle of olive oil and balsamic vinegar added the right amount of flavour. So refreshing! These two wholesome dishes are delightful and mouthwatering. You need to try them out!

The cafe boasted an overall casual vibe, bringing in all kinds of people. Some simply chatting, some catching up on some work and some stopping in quickly for a bite during their lunch break. Plus, the staff is so friendly and welcoming! This is a great place to spend your long breaks with friends or by yourself.

Overall, we had a great experience! Delicious food and a relaxed and cozy atmosphere. What more could you want during a lunch break? We can't wait to go back and try other intriguing dishes on their menu!
